Day Two Fat Free Update

I have a weird passion for taking our photo as reflected in car doors! It starts out with noticing my um, new physique, doubling over laughing, taking out the camera, then talking the boyfriend into holding still while I laugh so hard I can't take a good shot. After about 4 false starts, we get our shot. This was on the weekend, drinking our Booster Juice Smoothies in West Vancouver after riding the bike over the bridge. And below, that photo is from a few years ago, as we were un-loading gear for a gig! Totally nothing to do with this post. As you were. ;)

Day 2

Glass of water upon rising

11:30 Smoothie containing: 1 mango, 3 fat discs of pineapple (woody middle cut out), baby spinach, handful of parsley…with a few frozen blackberries thrown in at the last minute (well, after the first taste. I love it when my smoothie is very, very cold. Lukewarm smoothies don’t do much for me, enjoyment-wise.)

noon – Large salad from The Raw Truffle CafĂ©, no dressing, containing: red chard, kale, sunflower sprouts, lettuce, tomatoes, and red pepper.

2:30 – one whole cantaloupe
hungry by 2:45 but not eating so that the melon, like cheese, stands alone.

4:30 glass of green smoothie containing: spinach, red chard, apple, pineapple, banana, bit of raspberries and blueberries

6 pm 2 glasses green smoothie containing 2 bananas, 1 apple, 1 pear, 2 handfuls of parsley, 2 big handfuls of kale, and 2 cups of water. Thanks, Judy! :) Delish!

7:45 mixed baby greens salad with red pepper, celery, sunflower sprouts and a no-fat raw vegan dressing mixed in the food processor: 3 small roma tomatoes, 1/3 cup onion, 3 celery stalks, juice of 1 lemon, 4 soaked sundried tomatoes, a bit of herbamare salt

9:00 watermelon slices that gave me heartburn (wtf) so…

9:30 cup of fennel tea (aids heartburn.) Did help and immediately, too. Gotta love that!

I didn't experience overt hunger, which is GREAT! Again, just mild stimulation. Down another pound as of this morning.

This reminds me so much of how I used to eat back in my early raw days. I did, mind you, add fats in there, avocados, oils, etc, and that will return after this week's um, hm...challenge? experiment? project? Yeah, that's it, PROJECT!

Anyway, still Rawkin'!!

great job, rawkin'! i might suggest that the watermelon gave you heartburn because it is best eaten alone and before other foods since it digests so quickly? i notice that when i eat melon after something else (a salad or other fruit) i sometimes will get heartburn or a little minor stomach discomfort. anyway, just a thought! looking forward to hearing more about your low fat raw week :)

D! You clever thing! Of course!

I've alwasy, since going raw a couple years ago, known that melon is eaten alone.

What I didn't connect (can I get a rousing DOH!?) is waterMELON is a MELON.

Honestly. How did I get to be 45??

I think of melons as cantaloupe, honeydew, etc. Watermelon seems so friendly. Oh well. Live 'n' learn.

Thanks, D!! Makes poifect sense!!

I have yet to master a salad without dressing.... how do you do it?

Hi ya, Aurora!

It must be a personal taste thing, cause my boyfriend can't do it either.

I enjoy greens, and stuff like peppers and tomatoes and cucumbers, etc on their own, so mixed together in a salad, it's just a sweet blend of these things, and while a good dressing makes it taste, I dunno, fancier, lol, I still find I can enjoy it.

When I go out and order salad I always ask for dressing on the side and just dip the odd leaf and such in there, slightly. My boyfriend slathers it on, and that's what *I* can't do.

Wish I had a trick for ya, but it's just personal taste, I think :)

there are also some great low fat raw salad dressing ideas out there...blended celery and tomato; blended tomato and mango...these are really good and can give a salty and/or sweet taste to salads.

also, rawkin', i've been meaning to pass along this link to you: http://www.thehealthconscious.com/?page=ebook you can scroll down and on the left hand side sign up for a free ebook...it's filled with low fat raw vegan recipes (811 style) for when you're in the mood for a little "low fat raw gourmet" ;) hope you enjoy it!
