11:30 going to bed hungry but not desperately.

So, looking at my food list from yesterday, from the standpoint of the S.A.D., it doesn’t seem like a lot of food, but I’ve needed to eat more often today than usual. From the standpoint of raw, I bet that as the days of this week roll on, I'll need less and less food to keep me sated.

My thumb ring is already looser. And weighing myself first thing this morning, I am 2 lbs down, how could that be? While I'm not doing this for weight loss, it doesn't hurt my feelings to jump-start the release of a few pounds. I don't worry about my weight anymore because I know that just a bit of tweaking on raw takes care of it.

I was with a dear friend, and my stomach growled and I said, as if it was my stomach talking, "Hey, throw some FAT down here, hello...!" We had a giggle at that. And when I was leaving, she told me good luck with my fat free week, and I told her she might catch me chewin' on Crisco! (and rocking back and forth...)

I was kinda hungry at times, but nothing serious; just a bit of stomach stimulation, but I experienced no cravings, and my state of mind is ripe for this 'challenge'. So far it's not a challenge, but a joy. I'm IN, Baby. (she says, looking over her shoulder for mr.detox...)

I've had library books on Hold, and they both decided to arrive yesterday. Brigitte Mars' Rawsome and Matthew Kenney & Sarma Melngailis' Raw Food Real World. Interesting to flip through delicious recipes at a time like this! lol! I was fine, but there are a couple recipes I look forward to trying! :)

Am extremely impressed with Rawsome, in particular. Really down-to-earth writing that covers a lot of ground, with some good-sounding recipes, 200 of them! I'm going to buy this book because 3 loaner weeks from the library isn't going to be long enough. It's one of those books I'm gonna need to refer to and flip through regularly. In other words, A FIND! :)

I am motivated and determined; my head's in the right space for this. I went shopping for lots of produce tonight so that I didn’t get a sense of deprivation. My boyfriend was watching TV and didn't want to move, but I had energy to burn (!) so I drove to gas up the beater van and went to that overwhelming new Whole Foods and didn't find it overwhelming this time at all. I just needed the one section, produce, with a quick zip to the freezers for blue, black, and raspberries.

I drove in to the underground parking, rode the elevator up one floor, got a cart, and bee-lined to the juiciness and just started filling up on all manners of leaves: romaine, mixed greens, dandelion, spinach, kale, red chard, rainbow chard... gonna be on high-rotation for all these smoothies this week.

Then onto fruit: apples, bananas, mangoes, (which I've only recently started liking. I always thought they tasted like a bar of soap, only juicy... blech. But they are divine in a smoothie!) anyway, red Bartlett pears, navel oranges, a mini watermelon, a cantaloupe (without a ladder, ar ar)
And stuff for salad...peppers, tomatoes, cucumber, that sort of thing.

We are SET for the week!

In other news, looky! Tails are starting to form on my chick peas! Yay!

They look hardy, don't they?

I dehydrated the buckwheat over night, and they now sit in a glass jar on my nuts & seeds shelf...do they store long now that they're dried? I want to save them for next week when I make the nut-free bread.

So... this is Day 2 of the chicks and Day 2 of Fat Free Week. Mama and chicks doing well.

It's 11 a.m. and I haven't needed to eat anything. It hasn't even occurred to me...until now.

Time to make my giant smoothie for the day...er...for the morning! Then I'm meeting a raw friend for lunch at a raw place where I'll order a nakey salad.

Life is good, Rawkers!

Thanks, Girlie!!! :)

So far so fat-free-kickin' good! It's 5 pm Day 2 and I'm groovin'!

According to Victoria Boutenko, consuming no fat for just one week can re-set your body for a lifetime! We over-consume fats in general, not just SAD eaters but raw eaters...but that the body (liver) will recover from the stress of this after 1 week. Fasting on juice/water/smoothies, etc works to remove fats out of the body, and cleansed blood will make one feel more energetic.

And THAT lil paragraph is direct from my scribbled notes... she is so knowledgeable and smart, that she just speaks non-stop from the heart and I was scrambling to keep up with her in point form. So that's all I wrote down, but she spoke at length about this, and I wish I could flesh it out like she did. But then, that's why she's her and I'm me. (The world needs us both! haha)

Muuuuuah!! Wildy!! Muuuuuah!!

I'm glad you're doing this as I live with 3 SADers. I usually go with raw for breakfast and lunch and then eat the family dinner which is cooked. I won't go to great lengths to prepare 2 different meals (one cooked, one raw) but would like to possibly have a huge salad in the evening. Your posting what you eat helps me see simple things I could do.
My fave green smoothie so far:
2 bananas
1 apple
1 pear
2 handfuls of parsley
2 big handfuls of kale
2 cups of water
Yumm-O

Hi Judy,

Well that's good! I'm glad this was helpful to you!

Your smoothie sounds fantastic and I just happen to have all those ingredients right here right now...and it's just about dinner time...thanks for the inspiration, Friend!

Woohoo! Good so far, huh? :) I read Raw Food Real World a few weeks ago, but without a dehydrator it wasn't much use to me. Maybe better for you, though!

Hi Macie,

So far so good! :)

Raw Food Real World is still sitting on my desk, unread... as the timing of it coming in from the library didn't pan out with my no fat week! And now, I don't much feel like eating dehydrated, complex recipes. Go figure!
