I made these many times this summer and they were awesome! I used raw cacao nibs and ground into a powder each time I made a batch. I made them for a party and they were a big hit. My four year is still asking for them!

Hi naturedoc,

Aren't these GREAT? :) I'm so glad to hear they are 'gettin' around'... I'v had similar reaction to them...brought them to an AGM of very 'straight' S.A.D. eaters, who wouldn't dream of being raw, and for a couple weeks afterwards, I got emails for the recipe! :) I haven't made these in a while...but your comment reminds me of what I've been missing!! Thanks!

These are AWESOME! I bought some raw cacao nibs tonight and I really wanted to make a raw dessert with things I already had in the house. I found your recipe and I had all of the ingridents! I was stoked. Even though it was time for me to go to bed I jumped up and made them, and I am so glad that I did!!! I can't wait to test these on some of my SAD friends!

Rawkin' - thanks for sharing this recipe. I just made it, and the only thing easier than this recipe is pouring a glass of water! And they taste amazing! I swear more people would be raw vegan if they knew how easy and delicious it can be! CD

I tried to make these for a party yesterday. My Cuisinart really struggled with this, so I ended up making brownie glops rather than squares. Also, they really made my mouth itch. Maybe I'm allergic to walnuts?? I've had brownies with walnuts at a raw restaurant recently and didn't have any problems. Would soaking help?

Hi fauna,

I can't say from here what happened with your blender or why your mouth itched, but with the itch, I would take that as a sign of something disagreeing with you. I don't soak walnuts...could it be the avocado? Or another ingredient that you may not have used much of before? Agave? I'm just taking wild guesses. I'd just stay away from these if they give you a reaction, but with tongue firmly in cheek, I give you my condolences...they are so good! ;) Also, my blender has an easier time with fresh, moist dates, otherwise it makes a whiny noise and the mixture all clumps as it spins. I wish I could help further...

All the best,
xo

Thank you for sharing this recipe! I am just getting started with raw foods and was excited to find something so fast and easy (so many raw foods have to soak, ferment, dehydrate, etc... that you really have to plan ahead!) but these were so fast and super-tasty! love your blog too, btw! what an amazing transformation & testament to the power of healing foods! rawk on!

I don't have a food processor but was wondering if I could combine the ingredients in a blender with a few tablespoons of water? What would you recommend in this situation?

Thanks for the awesome recipe.:)

*Facepalm* I should probably have specified that my question was is it okay to put the 'brownie' ingredients in the blender with the water so that I don't burn the motor up(since I do not have a food processor)?

Thanks again!

COULD i possibly use almonds instead of walnuts for the crust? :/

Rawkin' said...

Hi K,
You absolutely could. Almonds, cashews, macs...all make for a beautiful crust.
What did you end up using?
